SUSTAINABLE FASHION FOR BODY DIVERSITY 22'
Acknowledgement
I would like to express my gratitude to my lecturer the Head of Product Design, Andrew Forkes, and The Head of Design Manchester, Malcolm Garrett, for giving me the opportunity to participate in this challenge.
Exhibited at Disseny Hub in Barcelona, Spain.
The Sustainable Challenge's fourth edition was a successful event held at Disseny Hub Barcelona on November 10th, 11th, and 12th. This annual event was created by MODA-FAD and has been jointly organised with Design Manchester festival since its second edition. It received support from the Barcelona City Council and Barcelona's Disseny Hub, with funding from the British Council's International Collaboration Grant programme.
This year's event was a great opportunity for 30 students including me, all students were from different design-related disciplines from both British and Spanish schools to participate in a 3-day creative marathon focused on the theme of "Fashion for Body Diversity". Each team were assigned with a model (client) and we all curated a design for them based on their preferences, the challenge was to create new designs based on this concept.
On the last day of the marathon, the six mixed teams of Spanish and British students presented their creations in a fashion show that was open to the public. It was a great success and we all showcased the innovative and diverse designs. The event was a great example of cross-cultural collaboration and creativity, and it was an honour to witness the amazing work of collaborating with talented students from two different country.
The exhibition was showcased in The Disseny Hub, Barcelona, Spain.
The six images above showcase designs created by students, tailored to their unique body orientation and preference.
Here are some snippets of the project.
I have had a completely new experience while working in the fashion industry, and it has been an unforgettable journey. This experience motivated me to undertake a major project, where I addressed the problems caused by fast fashion through upcycling materials.

November 2023
London South Bank University - London, England
The Exhibition was later hosted in London South Bank University to show the works of what design students can achieve within 3 days of the challenge.
I had the opportunity to host an exhibition on campus with the help of my professors, Andrew Forkes and The Sustainable Challenge organiser Malcolm Garrett, alongside some challenge participants. The event aimed to share our experiences with university students, lecturers, and guests who attended the exhibition. It lasted over a week and was open to everyone, including students and others who visited during the university's open day in November 2023.
Additionally, we worked hard to organise the event and make it a success.
